She started out by participating in the Femina Miss India Contest. She was born on May 10, 1981 in Surat, India. She has acted in Telugu,Tamil, Kannada, Hindi films. Although she started out in Telugu movies, she became famous after the Tamil film Engal Anna opposite Vijayakanth. She starred in Tamil Film “Aai” the song “Arjuna Arjuna” along with Sarath Kumar, which ended up as a big hit. This movie dubbed in hindi as Nayi Baazi. Being tremendously well endowed and very voluptuous, she’s constantly cast in almost all her films, entirely for skin show. Her screen name for the first two Telugu movies was Bhairavi.
She was crowned Miss Surat in 1998 and came fourth in the Miss India contest during the year 2001 along with Trisha Krishnan and Celina Jaitley, who was crowned Miss India Universe. She has also appeared in an English film named Maya directed by Eric Manning.
Namitha reportedly is geared up for a glam show in ‘Jagan Mohini’, the remake of the 1978 classic that virtually took the Tamil film industry by storm.
Produced by H Murali and directed by N K Viswanathan, the new version is nearing completion. On the reason behind casting Namitha, Murali said, ‘Why Namitha? She’s one actress with glamour. She was the first name that came to our minds.’
Says Viswanathan: ‘The new version will be made with state-of-the-art techniques. The scene where Namitha harvests pearls underwater will be a major highlight.’
‘Namitha has been given special training on harvesting pearls underwater and when the scene was shot in Andaman, fishermen gathered in large numbers to watch and applaud her feat’, says Viswanathan.
After a brief gap, Nila is back in Tamil to play the role of the prince’s consort. Ilayaraja is scoring the music for ‘Jagan Mohini’.
